My constituency's paper South Wales Argus invited readers to reveal their exciting plans to celebrate the Jubilee. Four comments were received on their website.
Excitement in Newport has not yet hit fever pitch.

Well, we're going to take out a year's subscription to "Republic", which is an anti-monarchist organisation.
"Republic" puts democracy and accountability above privilege, and equality above birth certificates. We believe we should be able to choose our own Head of State, as in other countries.
The progeny of Princess Sofia of Hanover should have no automatic right to become a modern Head of State, and we believe it should be through merit alone.

I'll probably go down the pub like I usually do.
It's my Nan's diamond wedding anniversary the same day, but I doubt people will be partying in the streets about that - what makes old Lizzy so special? Perhaps to celebrate she should start declaring tax or actually working for a living.

As a temp worker, I deeply resent having to give up another accrued holiday to "celebrate" the special times of that bloody family. It's the second year in a row, for heaven's sake.
