There will be universal sympathy today for the people of Ynys Mon whose future jobs hopes have been damaged by the withdrawal of investment in Wylfa B. There is an alternative in the already well-advanced local plans for marine based renewables. They are carbon-lite, British, clean, sustainable and eternal.
Nuclear is unpopular, feared, unaffordable without massive subsidies and fragile - especially in the event of another Fukushima.
Anglesey has sumptuous assets, in its rural and seaside beauty, mountain views, and its encirclement with energy rich waters. That is where the island's bright future lies.
Ymlaen, Ynys Mon!
STOP PRESS: I HEAR THAT EDF ARE LOSING THEIR ENTHUSIASM. THAT WOULD PUT AN END TO UK NEW NUCLEAR.
They still were at in a seminar in December when Hendry was in full flight making unfullfillable promises. Blogged about it again today.

"I've spoken to sources at [Centrica and EDF ], and they say there is a make-or-break decision to be made towards the end of the year by ministers - which is whether they are prepared to abandon their previous position that there won't be any substantial subsidies for nuclear, either from taxpayers or customers."
Hendry & co will have to eat many words, and cost the country billions, if they still want to run with the nuclear lobby. Be interesting how steady the LibDems remain on the policy of "no [gross] subsidies".
