Great afternnon for the Wales – England International game at Tredegar Park Newport today
England had 41 runs in their first innings and 60 in their second.
Wales made 90 first time and then made the winning 13 with several players to
bat. The captains of the two teams addressed the crowd. Wales collected the Gladstone Rose Bowl which was donated to the sport by the nephew of William Gladstone in 1937.
Reopening Transporter Bridge model
.It was a pleasure repeated. As the surviving plaque testifies 20 years ago to this month I opened a remarkable model of Newport's Transporter Bridge made out of match-sticks. It's a vast 16 foot long masterpiece that is wonderfully accurate.
It was on display in the In-Shops for many years, then put into storage. It was rescued and cared for by members of the Newport Friends of the Transporter Bridge. Thanks to the generous offer of a local firm Dudley's a handsome new display cabinet has been built and the model is now on display on the top level of Newport Market. It is well worth a visit.
Pictured are two representatives of the Rogerstone based firm Dudley's who restored the model and donated the splendid new display cabinet, Anne Gatehouse of the Friends of the Transporter Bridge and the Newport Mayor Councillor Bill Langsford. Rosemary Butler AM 'cuts' the ribbon watched by Cllr David Hando.
Thanks Christina. As a minority sport we in Wales are very grateful that English teams continue to play the sport of their fathers.

Very interesting blog and good to see the cricket was good. Being English i would have liked to hear that they had won; as the football news is so bad but the main thing is people enjoying themselves!
