Sorry, that should have read "You can add "whatever DG is" to that list"

DG

You can add to that list, Kay Tie. Consider me convinced on the Afghanistan issue.

Kay Tie

"If only more people had felt the need to stand up to the overweening power of the executive when it came to the drive to war, the reclassification of cannabis etc."

I couldn't agree more.

Given that a bitter old Trot and a curmudgeonly libertarian can agree, it ought to be possible to draw up a new constitution with near universal support (save from the political class) that would address the issues above.

Paul Flynn

How long will it be Adam before the public realise that helicopters are a diversion. The real issue is that we are losing British lives to serve an oppressive corrupt ruler.

Paul Flynn

It's unnerving Huw and DC hearing the rights words pouring out of the wrong mouth.

Many Tory MPs are riled that Cameron did not stand up for them in his hunt for scapegoats. The powers of the backbenchers must be exercised in the interests of voters, not to serve the greed of MPs.

There is limit to the depth of self-deception

If only more people had felt the need to stand up to the overweening power of the executive when it came to the drive to war, the reclassification of cannabis etc.

Well to be fair DG standing up to the overweening power of the executive could well be the same thing as standing up for your constituents interests.

Pity the person who said it has utterly undermined themselves by their own actions.

DG

"Let us restore to the House the authority that will enable it to stand up, not only for its own interests, but against the too often overweening power of the Executive.”

And there was I, thinking it was the job of the House to stand up for its constituent's interests. Silly me.

Adam

Operation Panther Claw is a major offensive which has cost a lot of British lives already.

The stated objective is to allow the presidential elections to go ahead next month in Helmand. Karzai will likely win.

The Karzai regime is amongst the most despicable and corrupt. This fight is obviously stupid and pointless and does nothing to tackle the many problems that anybody interested in peace or progress recognise. And yet the only controversy is that there aren't enough helicopters!
