Thanks you ferry.

Obama has appointed a harm reduction person from seattle as his drugs Czar. In his book, he makes clear that he understands drugs laws more than any previous American President. we live inhope.

Thanks John. I am well aware of the inflated claims of MEPs. I have heard about this report but I believe it does not address the worst abuse which is claiming for the cost of first class air tickets while flying economy. I agree, of course, on the other points. Anything is possible in these amazing times.

I also see that there are moves in San Francisco to legalise Marijuana to save money wasted on enforcement and collect an estimated £1 billion in tax. In 1933 FDR repealed Alcohol prohibition in order to end its unintended disasterous consequences and once again collect the vast tax revenues. This is very unlikely to happen at the moment as regards the war on drugs but the fact that it is even being suggested indicates how serious the current situation is.
Only 2 years ago it was unimaginable that the USA would nationalise the banks or rescue failing businesses what will be doing in a years time that we now think will never happen who knows.

John

Yes we need to make cuts a good start would be the expenses claimed by MEP's.I hope you caught "Secret report reveals how MEPs make millions" http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article5780750.ece on Sunday Paul this is an outrageous abuse of our money and is symptomatic of the corruption and greed at the highest levels of our Political system. The EU has yet to have its books balanced no accoutancy firm will sign them off because of the corruption. Then we need to look closer to home and our Politicians and Public sector pensions these are all unsustainable.
Then we need to stop trident, pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq and start using that money to help our own population.
