Must say Paul, I tend to think that the problem with mainstream politics is still a largely male-dominated boys' game and that it isn't feminised enough. Small wonder that so many of us feel totally disengaged when we turn on the TV and all we see at prime minister's question time is a bunch of blokes in neckties acting like an unsupervised nursery. Don't get me wrong, though: Your stance against pogonophobia has much to recommend it, but I don't see why this can't be compatible with gender diversity too. I'd love to see a world where a bloke in a dress or a woman with facial hair is taken as seriously as someone who conforms to what are after all patriarchal artificially-created sexist stereotypes of masculinity and femininity.
