Out of the gloom appears some good news.
Almost exactly a year ago I reported on this blog that Newport Warburtons bakery has been saved.
' Brace’s the Wales based bakers were interested in taking it over.
They bid and lost against Warburtons a few years ago when the business was bought from Rathbones.
With AM Rosemary Butler I have had talks with both companies. We assured Scott Richardson of Brace’s of the enthusiastic support of all the Labour political representatives in Newport. The good news then was that Brace's were taking over the Newport operation.
Warburtons is a UK national firm with £480 millions investment. In recent years they have expanded their Bristol operation. Possibly this was an over-expansion. Brace’s is based in the Welsh valleys and has £30 million invested. As always it's best to have the headquarters of a company based locally rather than the branch factory. This aws a very happy outcome. '
Now it's even better. Tomorrow I will visiting the Brace's Bakery in Rogerstone Newport to hear an announcement of MORE jobs.
Well done!
Excellent news - and excellent bread too!

And Warburton's gives lots of money to the Tories, so you're better off without them!
